How did Pink stay so relevant?
Main Post:
I heard Pinkās new song, āAll I know so far,ā recently and God it was such perfect timing. I heard it the exact day I was transitioning out of a difficult phase in my life. The lyrics were exactly what I needed to hear.
I remember in the early 2000s, it was Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera vying for the top spot, but Pink was always third. She has come such a long way and managed to overcome a feat of staying relevantāwhich is extremely difficult to do in pop culture. How did she do it?
Top Comment: P!nk's career interests me a lot - although her music doesn't appeal that much to me, she makes me want it to with her performance ability and overall charisma. She's has tons of hits and has definitely gone on an adult contemporary route that can't be beat with the GP, which I think keeps her relevant. Her and Kelly Clarkson have handled their success so well.
Pink's people need her

Just saw this on the Bill Burr subreddit

Can someone explain how Pink is so famous
Main Post:
I don't quite get her appeal. My parents went to her show last night and it was nearly sold out. How is she so famous?

Did Pink just use the Rnb culture as a stepping stone?
Main Post:
Pink is an amazing singer, sometimes i wish she can cater to her rnb fans with an Rnb album. Im not really into her new stuff i like some of it though. I've seen a dialogue where she claims that she couldn't be herself in the R&B times with la Reid I guess you wanted a different direction but why would you try to propose yourself as an R&B artist if that's something that you didn't want to do ? Even back in the day she had a R&B record. I guess it was a smart move to do if you want to get big nothing wrong with having different styles or going a different direction but I just really wish she just didn't completely go away with Rnb, i remember back in the day people thought she was a light skin black girl ! Maybe she didn't want that image i dont know but she definitely isn't the same anymore.
Top Comment: I think her label was trying to make her something that she wasn't. Can't Take Me Home was/is fire tho!š„š„š„ There You Go is my ish, and Most Girls still gets play from me. I also find myself watching both of those videos often. It's very nostalgic for me.
The P!nk Effect: an artist who didnāt have peaks as high as their peers but enjoys greater longevity than them
Main Post:
Other than Eminem and BeyoncƩ, P!nk is the only 2000s artist who is not a legacy act now. While her peers, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera had higher peaks, P!nk has outlasted them as a hitmaker and touring force.
Who are other artists with career arcs similar to P!nkās: never really being the biggest artist in their genre/time but having greater longevity?
Top Comment: I would argue that P!nk is a legacy act. That seems to be the trajectory for most artists once they hit a certain amount of time in the game. To my understanding, artists become legacy acts when the release of new music is less anticipated than their next tour, or, they are essentially a touring act that very rarely makes new records. There are several legends that now trade on their legacy. The Stones, Fleetwood Mac (obviously before the passing of Christine McVie), Stevie Nicks, Billy Joel, Elton John, Kiss, Def Leppard (whom I love, but they definitely belong here), Madonna, Janet Jackson... the list goes on. Hell, I believe that if Prince and Michael were still here with us theyād be (and were) in this camp as well. Pink still makes new music. It may even still chart well in its first few weeks. Itās not going to sell as well as her first few records. She puts on a banging show and has earned the admiration of every single person in those stadiums. But she is a legacy act.

I like the color pink and I'm tired of pretending I don't.
Main Post:
When I was little I said my favorite color was purple because all of the 'other girls' like pink. When I was 12/13 I liked blue because pink and purple were too 'girly' and I thought 'girly' was bad. Now I'm 18 and when I was shopping for my dorm I got almost every in pink without realizing it. One of my roommates said "I guess pink is your favorite color". She didn't say it in a negative way or anything but it made me realize that yes, pink is my favorite color. I gave her a big smile and said "yup" without shame.
PINK IS MY FAVORITE COLOR! I can like pink without it making me a traditional stereotype of what a conservative thinks a woman should be.
Top Comment: "Did you really hate the colour pink or did you just hate the relentless pressure to be feminine?" is something I read that made me realise at 28 years old that I actually like the colour pink, after a lifetime of being somewhat tomboy-ish and "hating" pink.
